RapidEye's satellite constellation opens new avenues for precision agriculture. Frequent revisits, a high resolution of 5 m, and five spectral bands allow for effective in-season monitoring of the crops. With the red-edge band, the relative N-status can be assessed. This information can be used to manage the N supply during the growing period, to verify the effectiveness of past crop management practices, and to create better management zones for the subsequent growing seasons.
