1. Hyperspectral Imaging Of Sugar Beet Symptoms Caused By Soil-borne Organisms

The soil-borne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani and the plant parasitic nematode Heterodera schachtii are the most important constraints in sugar beet production worldwide. Symptoms caused by fungal infection are yellowing of leaves and rotting of the beet tuber late in the cropping season. Nematode afflicted plants show stunted growth early in the cropping season and also leaf wilting late in the season when water stress often sets in. Due to the low mobility of soil-borne organisms, they are ideal... C. Hillnhuetter, A. Mahlein, R.A. Sikora, E. Oerke

2. Assessment Of Physiological Effects Of Fungicides In Wheat

The use of fungicides is one of the most widespread methods implemented in intensive crop production focused in solving phytosanitary problems. The use of fungicides belonging to groups such as strobilurins has been associated with positive physiological effects such as increased tolerance against abiotic stresses, changes in plant growth regulator activities and delayed leaf senescence. The use of thermography is a non- destructive method which permits to distinguish physiological changes caused... C. Berdugo, U. Steiner, E. Oerke, H. Dehne

3. Thermal Sensing Of Roses Affected By Downy Mildew

Downy mildew caused by the oomycete Peronospora sparsa affects roses and is a serious problem in nurseries and cut roses in commercial greenhouses, especially in those without heating systems. The disease, which affects the quality and the yield of roses, develops fast under suitable environmental conditions. Currently it is controlled mainly by the application of foliar fungicides and removal of symptomatic plant material due to the limited availability of resistant cultivars... E. Oerke , H. Dehne, S. 4. Variability in Corn Yield Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer in Quebec

Optimizing nitrogen (N) fertilization is important to improve corn yield and to reduce N losses to the environment. The economic optimum nitrogen rate  (EONR) is variable and depends on many factors, including weather conditions and crop management.  The main objective of this study was to examine how grain corn yield response to N varies with planting date, soil texture and spring weather across sites and years in Monteregie, which is the most important with 64% of total area and 69%... 5. Precise Strawberry Stem Localization Via Two-stage 3d Deep Learning

Harvesting delicate fruits, such as strawberries, at their optimal ripening stage inherently presents significant challenges, given its labor-intensive, time-consuming nature and high susceptibility to mechanical damage. The solution lies in developing intelligent robotic harvesting systems that can accurately segment fruits, determine optimal picking locations, and perform delicate maneuvers without compromising fruit integrity. This study presents a novel 3D vision-based methodology for autonomous... C. Chang

6. Coarse-to-fine Navigation for Robotic Feed Delivery in Precision Livestock Farming

This paper introduces an autonomous mobile robot designed for automated feed replenishment at multiple designated stations. The robot employs a hierarchical navigation strategy, enabling both wide-area coarse positioning and precise localization at target feeding stations. For global navigation, the robot fuses data from a pre-defined map grid, odometry, and an electronic compass. This multi-sensor data is integrated using a least squares method (LSM) to ensure robust coarse position estimation.... C. Chang
