- The Speaker is responsible for the content of their presentation and all accompanying materials (slides, handouts, visuals, etc.).
- They will include only images, photographs, graphics, or other visual materials that they personally own or have full rights to use.

- The Speaker understands that unauthorized use of copyrighted material may expose them to legal liability, and agrees to hold the Organizer harmless from any claims related to the Speaker’s use of third-party materials.
On July 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., at the PUC Events Center in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, during the 17th International Conference on Precision Agriculture (ICPA) and the 11th Brazilian Congress on Precision and Digital Agriculture (ConBAP), the institutional meeting of the Latin America and Caribbean Representation of the International Society of Precision Agriculture (ISPA) was held. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rouverson Pereira da Silva, 2024-2026 ISPA Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, and was attended by researchers, professors, professionals, and representatives of institutions and associations related to precision agriculture and digital agriculture across Latin America. At the outset, Prof. Dr. Rouverson Pereira da Silva presented the institutional mission of ISPA, emphasizing its international, scientific, professional, and non-profit nature, as well as its commitment to advancing the science and application of precision agriculture worldwide.
Agriculture (AsBraAP), including discussions initiated in 2024 regarding the organization of the ICPA in Brazil, planning meetings, support in identifying keynote speakers, and the development of scientific activities. These efforts contributed significantly to the joint organization of the ICPA and ConBAP in Porto Alegre in July 2026.

At the 17th International Conference on Precision Agriculture, ISPA celebrated a meaningful milestone with the presentation of the inaugural S.P. Khosla and Usha Rani Khosla Memorial ISPA Founder’s Award to Thiago Orlando Costa Barboza from Brazil. The award was established by ISPA Founder Prof. Raj Khosla to honor the memory and legacy of his parents while creating new opportunities for graduate students from emerging economies to participate in the global precision agriculture community.
The award recognizes values that transcend disciplines and borders: a commitment to education, mentorship, lifelong learning, and expanding access to opportunity. Through an annual stipend of $1,000, the award supports a graduate student from an emerging economy in attending the ICPA Conference - an experience that can be transformative for young scholars seeking international exposure, professional networks, and opportunities for academic and career advancement.
During the award presentation, Dr. Khosla shared heartfelt remarks with conference attendees. “Today, I come before you not as a scientist, educator, or a founder, but as a son,” he said. He reflected on the recent loss of both of his parents - his father in 2023 at the age of 90 and his mother in 2024 at the age of 85 - and spoke about the desire to honor their memory through an initiative that invests in the next generation.
“As the Founder of ISPA, I cannot think of a better way to honor my parents while supporting students who are the future of our discipline,” he remarked.
Although unable to attend the conference in person for the first time in more than two decades, Prof. Khosla emphasized that his thoughts remained with the global precision agriculture community and expressed gratitude to ISPA for helping establish an award that transforms personal remembrance into lasting impact.
The inspiration for the award comes from the lives of Prof. Khosla’s parents, S.P. Khosla and Usha Rani Khosla, both of whom were deeply committed to education and believed in its power to create opportunity, foster personal growth, and build understanding across communities and cultures.
