New Open-Access Review: Advanced Data Analytics for OFE
Tanaka, Colaço, Mieno, and Riley have published a
comprehensive open-access review in
Plant Production Science (Vol. 29, No. 2)
covering the full landscape of data analytics for OFE. The paper surveys statistical approaches for spatially heterogeneous field data, machine learning methods for site-specific management, cross-site synthesis frameworks, and simulation-based tools for evaluating experimental designs. It also looks ahead at emerging opportunities, including causal ML, smartphone-based yield estimation for smallholder systems, and the potential role of large language models in supporting farmer-researcher communication. #OFE2021 Conference Papers Now Independently Searchable
The 47 papers from the
First International Conference on Farmer-centric On-Farm Experimentation (#OFE2021, Montpellier, October 2021) have been
published as independent, peer-reviewed, citable records in the Cornell eCommons repository. Each paper is now discoverable through scientific search engines like Google Scholar, giving this body of work the visibility it deserves. The collection covers the four core OFE themes from the conference: people and processes, value creation, data and analytics, and policy linkages. For those who missed the original proceedings, the full multimedia document gathering all 190 contributions, including papers, video presentations, and policy outputs, remains freely available as well.
