Application of Proximal and Remote Sensing Technologies for Soil Investigations
The IUSS Working Group on Proximal Soil Sensing, the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS), and the Society for Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) are organising a joint symposium on the “Application of Proximal and Remote Sensing Technologies for Soil Investigations” 17-19 August 2021.
There have been substantial recent advances in soil science regarding the use of proximal and remote sensing technologies, not just employing these two technologies separately, but also in combination, such as new sensor platform integrations and fusion of proximal and remote sensing datasets to improve soil characterization and mapping. This symposium will provide a unique opportunity that brings together scientists and engineers across a range of disciplines to explore the combined potential of proximal sensing (i.e. near surface geophysics, soil profile probes, etc.) and remote sensing (i.e. UAV, aircraft, and satellite imagery) technologies as related to soil science applications.
Symposium website is: https://seg.org/Events/Application-of-Proximal-and-Remote-Sensing-Technologies-for-Soil-Investigations
See the attached call for papers for details. The deadline for abstracts is June 15th, but submissions received by end of June will be considered.
ECPA Update
The organisation of the 13th ECPA conference in Budapest is in its final stages. Although travel is still difficult sometimes, we are very confident that the introduction of the EU Digital COVID Certificate will facilitate safe free movement of citizens in the EU. It will become available in all EU Member States as of 1 July 2021, just in time for the ECPA Conference.
The poster session of the 13th ECPA Conference is complete now, we have 20 posters presented online or in-person.
The second day of the Conference is a Technical Tour, where our participants will gain insight into precision agriculture technology solutions adopted and applied on the field through the example of a large Hungarian farming company, KEVE Zrt. The technical tour begins in the outskirts of Baracska, near Budapest, where the technologies of the hosting company are presented through various stations.
ECPA 2021 will host two public side-events, a Hungarian-French B2b Meetings on Precision Agriculture and a workshop organised by the Dutch Embassy.
Registration is still open to all who are interested in Precision Agriculture.

Recordings of the #OFE2021 May Webinar Series are Available
The four #OFE2021 webinars recordings are now available at https://www.ispag.org/Events/OFE both in full-length and in individual presentations formats.
Value Creation. OFE creates value for varied stakeholders, value is shared, and scientific disciplines can contribute.
People and Processes. People are the real key to digital transformation. Transformation occurs when individual changes scale up through their networks and their organizations.
Data and Analytics. Appropriate procedures and well-targeted analytics can be deployed to exploit the valuable data and metadata collected on the farm.
Policy Linkages. Currently, initiatives around OFE are happening in spite of funding mechanisms, career paths and norms favoring traditional experimentation. Harnessing the transformational potential of OFE for agricultural sciences and innovation requires more strategic institutional alignment.
Recording of LATAM webinar now available
Thank you for attending the 2021 Latin American Community webinar. If you were unable to attend the live webinar, the recording is now available and can be found here. We look forward to seeing everyone in the future!
