Robotics and Automation are changing the way we produce crops, increasing efficiency and contributing to strengthening environmental sustainability. Thanks to funding from the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA), ISPA is organizing the International Symposium on Robotics and Automation which will run concurrently with the 16th ICPA on Monday, July 22. The symposium will include national and international speakers from academia, industry, and stakeholder groups involved in the research and development of robotic and automation solutions for agriculture and include discussions on the social impact of those solutions. The topics covered and the expertise of the symposium’s speakers will be grouped into three oral sessions and one panel discussion.

 

 

 

 

 

The symposium will conclude with a poster session and evening receiption.

Country Representatives serve to help promote ISPA by championing the ISPA mission and purpose globally, in particular, in the country they represent. ISPA is growing internationally so Country Representatives remain an important position to help ISPA best serve people, groups, governments and others, globally connecting them to science and experts.

Below are a few of the research studies that will be presented: The use of satellite and drone images, multispectral and hyper-spectral sensors, combined with crop growth models for in-season nitrogen management The use of artificial intelligence techniques combined with ground data supporting nitrogen management is a novel approach highlighted in several oral and poster presentations The use of satellite-based recommendations to support fertigation and the impact of irrigation water management on nitrogen use efficiency are topics highlighted in the nitrogen management sessions   Precision soil sampling, studies highlighting the impact of soil sampling techniques used for nutrient management and the use of soil and plant sensors to support soil sampling will also be included in the program.
