A Study On Diagnostic System Based On ISOAgLIB For Agricultural Vehicles

Nowadays the growth of the embedded electronics and communications has demanded the development of applications in agricultural machinery in Korean agroindustry. The root reason is that most of agricultural machineries produced in Korea does not apply international standard. Therefore, the incompatibility problem between hardware, software and data formats has become a major obstacle for exporting agricultural products made by Korea to the world. In order to resolve the drawback, the use of ISO 11783 standard and electronic control unit (ECU) has promoted researches of ECUs and communication networks for data acquisition and control in a tractor and its implements. The global trend should take advantage of standardized systems in compliance with ISO 11783 standard on devices, or Electronics Control Units (ECU), of the agricultural production.
Preferentially, the purpose of this study aims at systemizing the information necessary of the procedures for communication on the implement ECU with the tractor task management ECU, the needed standardized files and functional tests of the devices communication using ISO 11783 network.
Secondly, after making test applications such as soil sensing, crop sensing and etc. using files of Part7_ applicationLayer into ISOAgLib, Main ECU equipped with a display has ability to deals with errors between a tractor and its implement ECUs. For this implementation, we reference to part 3, 4, 5 and 12 in ISO 11783 Standards. The proposed ECU with diagnostics observes status of engine, oil, tires, battery and etc. via a display and helps operator and technician test functions.
This paper presents implementation of diagnostic system for functionalities of handling internal errors and monitoring states into its implements. It is expect, this study may open opportunities for the ISO 11783 standard and expand the possibility of providing a large number of intelligent applications involving the electronic and communication protocol in Korea.
